The University of Maryland has over 300 educational and scholarly exchange agreements with other universities, private institutions, and government organizations, both at home and abroad. In order to facilitate the establishment of new global partnerships, the university has established a campus-wide protocol for the creation of international memorandums of understanding (MOUs).

Educational, corporate and government partnerships boost research opportunities for faculty and students and support current work across the university. These partnerships draw on the broad specturm of research occurring across traditional and interdisciplinary fields of study across all colleges and departments. In addition, federal and state agencies as well as private corporations are recognizing the benefits of aligning their resouces with the talent and expertise available at the university.
